Linked to a devil or evil spirit: disliked
A weak report (al-Tabarani in Majma al-Zawa'id 4677) has the Prophet telling a man that Hubab is a devil and to name his son Abd al-Rahman. Abu Dawud 4956 also lists Hubab among the names the Prophet changed (a list without chains), and the commentary there glosses it as a devil's name (or a snake). Against this, Al-Hubab ibn al-Mundhir was a respected Ansari Companion, so the case is weak; flagged at low confidence.
Confidence: low
